| 10k scale Allegiance SD/SSD master WIP here is some sketched of how i was thinking of making the major parts of the ship OdysseySlipways/Allegiance SD-SSD - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting here i begin making the lower hull. it is made from .040 ABS sheeting from Plastruct. i thought that if i made the sides of the sheet of plastic the center line of the hull, it would match up easier. in the first shot you'll see where i cut out for the 2 small hangars. nothing else shown here other than the cross braces being added in OdysseySlipways/Allegiance SD-SSD/5-31-08 - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting not sure what i was doing here OdysseySlipways/Allegiance SD-SSD/6-1-08 - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting not sure what was done here other than i took note on how tall the hull was, not to my liking I may have added the stripping for the brim trench lips OdysseySlipways/Allegiance SD-SSD/6-2-08 - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting I'm not sure if this is where i had changed out the cross braces on the top and bottom hulls, giving the hull's cross section a lower profile. i know it was here or the day before here i started adding some of the larger raised armor plating to the lower hull. i wasn't sure how i was going to make a straight line from one side to the other, so i started by cutting the plastic with one squared ends, these ends would meet in the center of the hull and then be laid down, i would then mark the edge of the hull onto the plastic so i would know where to make my cuts. it worked out pretty good. to help keep the gap between the one set of armor plates, i just decided to use a strip of plastic. i figured why not, if the first piece was glued in place and it looked pretty good, why not just follow it...... so i did OdysseySlipways/Allegiance SD-SSD/6-8-08 - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting here is started the upper hull. rather than cutting out two pieces like i did with the lower hull, i cut them out together as one piece and then scored down the center where i started to bend it. but before i could bend the hull, i drew out on the computer the size of the opening i wanted for the tiers, printed it out, and then cut through the paper into the plastic. it worked rather well. you will also see that i added cross braces to the upper hull as i did with the lower hull. you can also see 2 pictures of both hull halves next to each other showing the outside and insides OdysseySlipways/Allegiance SD-SSD/6-15-08 - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting in these pictures i started adding .040 thick strips to make a lip for the Tiers to sit on. I also started the first Tier, but stopped when i got to trying to get the right pitch for the roof. the way i was trying to work out the pitch was by taking .250 wide strips of plastic and using that as a guide by putting it on it's side, on the hull, but when the two strips met in the middle, i kept being just over 1 mm between them in their height. For the life of me, i don't know what the problem is, so i tired again.......... and again............. and again........... and then called it a day OdysseySlipways/Allegiance SD-SSD/7-10-08 - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting after trying to figure out why i couldn't get one side to match the other at the center point, i finally gave in and just split the difference. from this point, everything seemed to flow nicely. I started the first Tier level OdysseySlipways/Allegiance SD-SSD/7-23-08 - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting here you will see that last Tier levels being added. each Tier level is separate from the other. there are 4 pieces so far to the Tiers. the spine will be a separate part as well OdysseySlipways/Allegiance SD-SSD/7-24-08 - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting |

| okay, been a little while since i posted here any updates, so i'll post them by their dates...... 8-28-08 in this picutre i did a little sketching of what i'd like it to look like 1basiclayout.jpg - Image - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting in this picture i have laid down the first layer of .020 x .100 and then began adding on some other shaped pieces of .020 2.jpg - Image - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting in this one i added just a few pieces of .010 strips and chips 3.jpg - Image - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting in this shot you may make out a few more pieces of .010 added 4.jpg - Image - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting i thought if i turned the hull around the other way, the flash may throw a bit of a shadow to see things a bit easier, but it doesn't seem to be the case 5.jpg - Image - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting as you can see in this pictures, i tried to add a little bit of perspective to it, but it didn't come out too clearly 6.jpg - Image - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting this one also shows a little bit of persective to it, but this time i didn't use a flash so you can se a little bit more 7.jpg - Image - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting all of this is giving me some idea as to how i'll be having the Brimt trench done for the Ertl 1:4222 scale SD kit when i get to it (hoping before the end of the year). I still plan on adding smaller little wedges of plastic do give it more detail along with another level of .020 and then detail out some of that level, then i just have 5 more sides to do like it. hope you like the brim trench so far (now that you can see it ) 8-29-08 well, i did some more detailing of the first level, just adding a few more shaped chips to fil it out some more. not sure why but the front half of the trench just doesn't seem to be the same as the back - or is it just me? if i manage to get anything else done on it tomorrow, it will hopefully be adding the second level of .020 and then dtailing that as much as possible. i know yesterdays pictures were hard to see what detailing was added, but i think you'll like these pictures even more OdysseySlipways/Allegiance SD-SSD/8-29-08 - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting 9-1-08 not too much new to show. I did start the next layer bbut not quite as i was planning. I was hoping to add another .020 and add some more detailing, but i found i was only able to add a .010. the only way i might have been able to add the .020 was if i were to push it down hard in the back, but when i did this, i think the lavels would start to tilt and make it all unlevel (going arcross the hull from side to side). i did start adding the fist level (.020) to the other side.
