Star Wars Ship Textures.

Hi all.

I've made a 3d model (in Solidworks) of Guri's Stinger from Shadows of the Empire... one thing is I would really like some decent renders for it (a couple of nice 'in universe' shots). I've never done any textures or whatnot. Anyone interested in giving a hand?

Not really project recruitment is it, more of a request for someone to create some textures for you.

Solidworks is not the most popular of packages around, what image types does it recognise?

One rule for them another for the rest of us.

It is a project. I'm trying to recruit some help with it...

There is also the option for further modeling if anyone wants. The turret and front canon are in need to more detail, maybe cockpit and turret interior detail would be needed (if one wants transparent glass). Also the oval at the back needs some greebles.

The ship itself had been made into a physical model already (I'll show some images later) and just needs a couple of nice rendered shots to help show it off...

Solidworks can export to the following:

ACIS (*.sat)
DXF/DWG (*.dxf, *.dwg) (2D outlines only)
IGES (*.igs)
Parasolid (*.x_t, *.x_b)
STEP (*.step)
STL (*.stl)
VDAFS (*.vda)
VRML (*.wrl)

What are you offering as compensation for your project?

A balloon with a ribbon. Provide the air yourself.

Tell you what, why don't you try some tutorials for photoshop, since that's what most people use to make textures.

Guidelines for posting a request in the project forum:
http://www.scifi-meshes.com/forums/p...t-request.html

As a side note, the next time someone asks you a perfectly legitimate question it may prove benficial for you to use whatever grey matter you have and think before you open that gaping chasm under your nose.

One rule for them another for the rest of us.

Wow amazingly hostile... it was only a joke.

I'm builing this ship from myself, just a bit of fun (see the attached image below for the early 3D print, it is further along now but as it is not CG I guess this isn't the place to show it). I was hoping to find someone that might want to help with an area I'm unfamiliar with, not trying to hire a freelancer. It was my impression this was more of a hobby based forum, where people are sharing their work, helping each other and not simply trying to get themselves paid work. If I am wrong in this I apologize that I posted I the wrong forum.

Anyone else possibly interested, please let me know.

That's cool I like jokes but normally around here they're followed with a little smile and a j/k.

The forums have a mixture of pro and hobbyist 3D users, which is why the guidelines were setup.

I'll be honest and say you're going to have a problem due to the programme you've used.

You've got Lightwave listed as your main app, why didn't you model it in that?

By the way you still have mentioned what image files solidworks will recognise?

One rule for them another for the rest of us.

Since you have a physical model, just paint that up, take some photos, then use your photos as textures on the 3D model.
