Thank you for your honnest opinion Jack.

I just want to point out a few things. First of all, there has been some good progress on the programming side. The developers journals are exactly here to show this progress. The ICP has been released ( and downloaded tens of thousands of times ) and contains some of your work ( granted, it's not "the" game, but it's still "a" game ).

Infinity is an ambitious and long-term project, don't doubt that. If your goal is indeed to get your work in a game "as soon as possible", then you can only be disappointed. Professional studios take in average 3-4 years to develop a game, Infinity started in 2004/2005, and we're only indies. I don't think we're particularly "late".

By the way, nothing forces you to be dedicated to the project right now, you can very well take a pause and come back later when the game is closer to a release. Just keep an eye on it.

Hey C3pm

I listened to couple of your tracks that are located on your website. Musical style of Infinity is Orchestral. The music can have some spices from synths, though.

The first track on your site reveals some strings that could work. I like the track but currently it is way too electronic. The second electro track does not fit of course. I cant proceed to third track because the flash player is bugged.

If you have some "realistic" symphonic samples (east west, miroslav, vienna...), then you might be able to get something in.

I suggest to get familiar with the game visually and auditively before creating something.

It's good to check out some of our compositions (made by Panu Aaltio, Yu Chen...)

..But, hmm. Your first track proved that you are able to do some very subtle music. We definitely need some very quiet / subtle "ambient" music too. It dosent have to be like the stuff behind those links.

Nice pic's, but little really new.

Will the game be free ? Or if not, how much will it cost ? Will it have a monthly fee ?

This is currently unknown at that time. Running an MMO is expensive. It might be possible to play for free for a while or without some advanced features, reserved to paying customers ( premium memberships ), or to support the game through sponsors/advertisement, but nothing is set in stone.
Every contributing artist needs to be aware of this little bit of information when you consider giving time and effort to an Indy MMO.

I play a lot of OGame, which is free to play, and ad's & pay per options exist in game to not only pay for the servers but also pay salaries, maintenance, and upgrades. So until the creators decides whether it's a paying MMO or a free one caution should be used when submitting.

Science is an economic good like everything else, and it is very bad for production of high quality goods for the government to control the means of production.

As long as it's non-profit (as in - All money made goes to operating costs - Like SFM), then I don't see it as a big deal. But if an artist were to contribute art and then the project became commercial...Well that's a whole other ballgame.

I continue to be impressed with this engine though. Some very professional quality stuff being shown here...

Very pretty, but yea, like has been mentioned, I've always wondered about compensation. If you go commercial, you will have to split profits with every person that's ever contributed...good luck with that one.
