No, what's sad is people always requesting stupid help that takes COUNTLESS hours and expect to get it for free.

PS' your stuff on your website looks like it was done 15 years ago mate.

When you love a pet, loosing it is like loosing a part of your soul. I lost part of mine on Feb 12 2008. Never will it be the same again.

Only thing I expected was a little more friendly reply's like I've gotten before even being told no. But this is just amazing to me. A whole lotta drama for asking the question, makes me wonder what the point of having this part of the forum called "REQUESTS" for?! According to the answers I've gotten it should be Paid Work & that's it.

So, if I had made 2000 posts and then asked for something, I wouldn't have gotten the lambasting I had recieved? Or 100 posts? Would someone care to tell me when you are a REAL member? I am of course being sarcastic. I came here under the FALSE assumption that asking for help might be the right thing to do and maybe someone would be kind enough to help instead of an off with his head mentality. Apparently I was wrong, and I stand corrected and have recieved my lashings for being a newbie to the board and asking out of turn. Again sarcasim just in case you were wondering.

I won't apologize for asking in a place where it basically says REQUESTS HERE. That would just be idiotic. I am well aware our work isn't perfect it's the first two things we've ever done. No one can become a Captain over night but I suppose that's why in my nieve way I was asking for help so we could have a better looking project. But I recind my request and ask if this forum has a moderator to please lock this thread. Since I am not considered a "REAL" member.

Look at it this way, your best friend comes to your house and ask you to borrow your car for a day, you don't hesitate a SECOND and loan him right?..but a perfect stranger comes and ask the same thing..what will you say!...NO...straight of the bat. same thing goes here. Start by been part of the community, start posting yout work, gets some feed back, then things will slowly start rolling in your favor.

I may not let the person I don't know have my car. But I would give bus or cab fare if I had it to give. Or offer a ride. If you are unwilling to offer to help now, what makes me believe you would be so kind to lend your generosity at a later point of time. Sorry, but your anology is flawed. There are always avenues of help that can be offered other than go off yourself from the bat, but it seems I have others who get the same treetment and if I could help them and myself I would.

ok..if you wanna take the car anaology, you're not asking us for a "ride" but rather you're asking us to BUILD you a car for free!..

People arent being cruel Thomas.

Its just the vast majority of people that ask for free models to be made, have no idea of the amount of time that has to be devoted to such a project.

To the proffesionals here, thats time they could be earning thousands of dollars, to the amatures, who have to do other jobs to provide for their families, it cuts into both time with their families, and time for their own personal projects.

The fact that you need not one, but five highly detailed environments, and you need them soon...

Well love of trek might go a long way for some, but we get about 4 of these threads a week.

I used to be an amature film maker myself, back when having CGI effects in my film, meant pointing my super8 at the monitor on my amiga.

CGI isnt always the answer to everything, if you are that short of time you might want to consider making a physical model.

Some balsa wood, some card, a bit of paint, some careful lighting.

Plus that way you have the pride of knowing it was all your own work, and if the sets look a little ropey, well wasnt that the charm of the original series?

Another option is to learn from these guys and attempt to do it yourself. I'm a writer and I have zero talent for computer-generated imaging at all. But I would be hesitant to make such a grand request without having a frame of reference with which to speak with them on.

But I'd rather learn how it's done and maybe do it myself. That might take a long time, but I've got the patience for it. And anyone who works remotely with CGI knows that rendering takes /time/. A lot of it. These images and animations are not done overnight. I know a single still may represent hours of work, while a short animation could be days.

I've been reading through the tutorials and I'm already interested in seeing if I can put something together for my first attempt.
