| Taleon needs modellers Project Name Taleon Brief Description Taleon is a mixture between a RPG and a tactic shooter. Its designed for advanced gamers who like to play something new and not some clone with only 2 more features than its predecessor. The player will be able to solve quests like in many RPGs and to join one of the three big factions (and with join, I mean really join, not as in many other titles). The actual game is in development for about 6 months, thus we are still in planing stage. However, the engine is pretty much advanced, so that we can start with the game right after planing. Target Aim We want to release this project as freeware in the next 2 years. There is no tight schedule, but it would be great if we can reach this aim. We have no intention to make profit out of this project, its for fun and to gather experience only. Compensation We can't offer any compensation since we're a bunch of students which will be doing their Abitur (pretty much like an A-Level) in the next 2 years. However you will most likely have fun during the development and when we're finished you can be proud of helping to create an indy game. Technology We're using our own Game Engine as well as most of the cutting edge development and graphic tools (Microsoft Visual Studio 8, Photoshop CS2, etc...). Apart from that, we're using open source or selfmade tools. Talent Needed Currently, we can offer you one open position: Modeling position. You should be able to create 3D characters, objects as well as skinning and rigging them. We are searching for one to four persons who are experienced with 3D Studio Max. I've began working on some models, but I doubt I can finish them, because I'm eager to continue on the game itself. Therefore you would need to continue my work on them. You don't need to work 24/7 on the project. It would be fine if you could spend some hours a day, but it's not nessecary. You also won't need to report your progress every day, once a week will be enough. You won't get kicked if you can't show any progress every week, since real life goes first Team Structure Simon - Team leader and programmer Florian - level designer and story writer Thomas - Modeler and game designer Thomas - Level designer Jason - Scripter Website Game :: Index. Currently, we are all talking german, but if you don't speak it, we'll switch to english . Previous Work by Team None Contact Please contact me via email (lw.shadowman@gmx.net) or ICQ (308632604) Feedback Encouraging or joining feedback would be perfect. Additional Info Background Story: In the year (3000) a great war destroyed the planet (earth) almost completly. Only a few groups could escape before the seismic disruptions wiped out all (humans). These groups were a confraternity of fanatic (crusaders), a guild of scientists and some slaves. Landed on a new desert planet these groups soon found out that the planet has an ultimate ressource, a nearly indestructable metal called Taleon. But the extreme climate makes it difficult to build safe mining grounds. Now there is a new war about to begin, because of this ultimate ressource. The scientists try to collect as much of this metal as possible to improve their machines and to create an ultimate world. They settled down in the middle of the desert. Their shields protect them from the desert storm, and these desert storms keep intruders away. Their HQ is some kind of a flying biotop, where only pneumatic pipes can transfer you to the city itself. The structure is lead by a council of the most intelligent men. To battle the other factions, they improve their soldiers with implants, all kinds of firearms and even battlemechs. The (crusaders) think that this "holy" metal was sent by their god and they must collect and protect it with all costs. Furthermore the metal is useful for their medieval looking armors and their melee weapons. To stand a chance against the high technoligized scientists they enhance their warriors physical strenght with drugs. The (crusaders) castle was built in the middle of a mountain and on the peak the godlike leader reigns his minions. The third factions are the ex-slaves. These people took the chance of a new live on the planet and built an underground city. They're not interested in the metal itself. They just want to make as much profit as possible with the metal. Because of that, the ex-slaves are the neutral group of the three. They trade with both sides, but don't let them know that they do so to keep their neutralilty. They have some technologies of both groups, but only worse stuff. Their advantage is that the city couldn't be found, neither by the scientists, nor by the (crusaders) and so they can act in the background. Every interaction is controlled by the leader of the underground city, a man who's some kind of a godfather. The fourth group are the nomads. This group doesn't take a great role in the battles about the ressource, they're only bandits who try to survive by ambushing caravans of the others. They live all over the planet in smaller tribes, because no other factions accepted them and they have distinctive sense of freedom. This group is important because the player starts as one of this nomads who's tribe was slaughtered by a group of assassins. Now the player must decide whether to join the (crusaders) or the scientists to survive the rough climate. Later in the game, the character gets the possibility to join the ex-slaves. The names inside the brackets are not defined completely. They will change, once we agree on the real ones. I'm also working on a trailer for the game, but it takes time, I can only show you a small part of it, that's done already http://simon.golf675.server4you.de/blub2.divx There are some of our sketches for some models. You can find them here Game :: Forum anzeigen - Artworks & Skizzen |

| We still can use modellers, especially a modeller who can work out a design idea for himself. Currently it's only 2 persons working on the design, so it's kinda hard to feed our modellers. I'm especially talking to the people, who are interesting in doing 23rd century space design. We're still looking for a minimum of 1 space station plus some "little" ships, transports, maybe some reconnaisance ships. It would be great to fit to the current style of the most important ship: http://www.scifi-meshes.com/forums/3...eper-ship.html These pieces won't be seen in the game itself, but in the introduction video, however, if you wish to continue to work with us, you'll be given assignments, that will be visible in the game itself (mostly assets like buildings, random greeble [stuff that lies around in a ville], etc...). All this work will be noticed in the readme (featuring links to a preferred site), the credits at the end of the game, the website, etc... |
