| Any writers interested? "Borg the creation." I am a terrible writer, but I have a really good story, if anyone is interested in helping me bring this story alive. I can create a story board, describe characters, and work with the writer on the actual story. I will describe the basic story in points.. 1. Timeline, Pre-borg scene. Two planets shortly after a bloody war lasting centuries, are about to build the ultimate trust builder. A version of the the internet, "irony" that is the first Borg interface, intended to let minds from both planets, work together in groups of 2 to hundreds on any technical problem. This also gives them the ability to keep track of what each other is doing, and allow them to see if their old enemy is upto no good. 2. A greedy daughter The leader of the 1st planet, who designed the interface technology, with the aid of 2 brilliant daughters, "unknown" to all the youngest daughter is very upset that her people plan to share the tech, with their old enemy. Through treachery, she sabotages the programs, enslaving not only the enemy planet, but her own people as well..."you geussed it, shes the borg queen." 3. Timeline, two weeks after Voyager arrives back home, to earth. The federation gets wind of a massive borg invassion en-route, and post a listening station on the edge of federation territory "a suicide mission". This time its not 1, 5, or even ten cubes, this time its hundreds!!!! The outpost, is on a planet, that negates the use of energy weapons, or transporters. The defenders must hold the post, long enough to get vital info back to starfleet..." landing craft, and lots of hand to hand combat." Klingons, that are old, or have been dishonored, join to either restore family honor, or to secure their place in the afterlife... 4. Ace up their sleeve The federation, launches a secret mission, even as they prepare for all out war with the borg. The old planet eater, disabled by Kirk, has been rebuilt, into a monsterous warship, called Warhammer..."all new anti-borg tech has been added to the design." Picard, is recruited to Captain the Warhammer, to kill the original Borg queen, and end once and for all, the Borg threat. I won't go into more detail at this time, but I have worked out alot of the story, and will share it with a serious writer. Needless to say, this is only a very bare version of the story. P.S. Forgot to mention, the stories title is "Warhammer" |

| SFM Guru | I must admit, I do like the premise of the story -I'm very interested in how the Borg Collective came to be. There's a story in one of the Strange New Worlds' fan fiction books that was released recently; that an intelligent scientist created a series of nanoprobes to help cure his daughter of a horrendous disease. She...needless to say went abit nuts and started assimulating everything! Again, liking the idea, not to keen on re-using the Doomsday Machine -maybe a Federation starship called Warhammer that contains Doomsday Machine technology? -I'd be interested to giving it ago. PM if your interested. Check out my signature links to see what you think of my style of writing... |

| Ill get you some stuff to get you started first thing in the mourning. The Warhammer, only utilizes the hull, and main weapon and power systems. I am hammering out my view of the Warhammer now, in 3ds Max.... Here's a pic of where Im at so far......(blending organic look, with federation) Ill have the model done in a few days, Its still in early development. But as you can see, it's not really the same old DD-machine. P.S. I have sent a full story line, to "jadre" in hopes they will like it enough to write it. I can not give this to anyone else, till I hear what the answer is, its only fair. |

| The strange new worlds books aren't canon so you can stray from that explanation of the borg. Like yours better. Still... picard? Wouldn't you be able to write a better story with a new captain/crew? More freedom. Question: why would the borg attack a simple outpost? By now they have a pretty good idea of where to find the Federation's most important planets. They would take the short route I think. Still this is a story I would read. |

A short scene early on, then one big battle near the end.. The reason that they are attacking the outpost? 1. its right in their path. 2. its broadcasting tactical information back to the federation. | |

| Since their has been no reply to the private message sent, Im going to assume the answer is no, and begin to write this my self... If someone (with more skill) wants to co-author this book, let me know. For now, here's the teaser, the full synopsis. ------------------------------------------------------------ Full storyline synopsis Star Trek novels, movies, and series episodes, are made up of several short stories there tied together in the end. For this work, I'll use the same formula. Storyline 1 the creation of the Borg. Story number one consists of a plausible turn of events, that bring about the creation of the Borg. In this part of the story it's not technology to goes wrong, but human jealousy, racism, and greed, that leads to the creation of the Borg. I think, having a more human twist to the Borg's creation, is much more plausible than having just another technology gone wrong story. In the first storyline, we deal with a younger daughter, brilliant but twisted. Dealing with the loss of her fiance, and many friends and family members in a long and bloody war, have made her bitter. While healing from loss, jealousy over her father's attention given to her older sister, really works toward twisting her character even further. As they work to initiate, a new and magnificent technology, that allows the minds of people separated not by continents but by planetary systems, to work on any problem technical or otherwise, in pure concert. This network system not only allows the user control on another person's information, but also on their lifelong and experience. "Just imagine you come across a car wreck victim, in need of lifesaving surgery, and you are able to access the knowledge and experience of a practiced surgeon, to save that person's life right on the spot. Now let's say that your chosen profession, was a fry cook, it would not matter, because of the access you have to the real surgeon. " After all it's gone wrong in a younger daughter's life, mainly at hands of her people's old enemy, she feels betrayed because her people have chosen to share this magnificent technology with people she feels are murderers. In the end she enslaves not only her enemy, but her own people father and sister included, for committing such heinous betrayal. She becomes the first and original Borg Queen. Storyline 2 two weeks after the return of Voyager to the Alpha quadrant, a single Borg female is captured, crossing into Federation territory in a small Borg escape pod. When the elder katherine Janeway, infected the local Borg Queen (which we have seen there's many iterations of) and she was losing her hold over the many Borg in her sector. Several cubes and I believe one's sphear, chased Voyager and were destroyed entering the Alpha quadrant. The Borg female after drifting, and disconnected from the hive of mind, for more than two weeks had begun to reject her Borg implants. Her physical condition was serious, she was dying, before she dies, she tells the Federation that she is the older sister of the original Borg Queen. She also tells them that only by destroying the original Borg Queen, can they hope to end the threat of the Borg forever, and gives them the location of their original home world where they will find the original Borg Queen. As the local Borg Queen was losing control, she had been able to reach an escape pod, and eject. She had ejected and was thrown out of the transwarp tube, just short a Federation territory. The Borg female, also tells the Federation, that the Borg Queen intends a massive invasion. Not one, not five, but literally hundreds of Borg cubes are on the way, with sole purpose to defeat the Federation once and for all. Storyline 3 defend the listening post. We have seen in Star Trek series, on several occasions, planets or atmospheres that make the use of energy weapons, or transporters impossible. For storyline 3, will be using a tale of intense heroism, during a futile attempt (a suicide mission) to defend and intelligence gathering post, built on just such a planetoid. Even though the Federation knows the Borg attack is coming, they don't know the exact strength of the force, nor do they know what exact targets the attack force will be heading for first, after entering Federation territory. As you might guess, every second the listening post stays open allows for much needed intelligence to be boarded to Federation headquarters. Most of the battle to defend the listening post will be done on the ground, using projectile weapons, as well as hand-to-hand battle techniques. There'll be a mixture of volunteers, from all the races throughout the Federation, but as you might guess this battle draws a large contingent of Klingons. To enter Klingon version of heaven, one must die in battle. Die of sickness or old age, will not get them into heaven, neither will dying while in a state of dishonor. By dying in such a heroic battle, members from all the houses across Klingon territory, can restore their families honor. Also those who have grown old, and can foresee no great wars in the near future, here is their chance to die and join the honored dead. This portion of the story centers around 1 the old Klingon General, sporting his grandfather's targ hunting gun. Telling stories around the campfire along the trenches, the old General speaks of old battles, lost friends, the young welps who join this battle, and even jokes about all the dishonored Klingons whose families had been forced to work as servants in the empire, that were now reclaiming their families honor, and restoring their rights within the empire. "Where now will the Klingons find a servant class, was so many heroes on the battle lines"? During the battle, the old General finds himself to be one of the last defenders of the listening post. In a final heroic gesture, he blows up the ammo dump at the entrance of the underground bunker, buying a few extra precious minutes for the intelligence team inside the bunker. Storyline 4 Warhammer unleashed. At 2700 meters long, the original doomsday machine first encountered by Captain Kirk, and I believe Commodore Decker. 2700 meters, sounds enormous, but when you take into account that a galaxy class starship, is 625 meters, then compare the size of the galaxy class to a Borg cube. You begin to realize that the doomsday machine at just over a mile along, isn't really that terribly large, when facing multiple Borg ships. The breakdown is that the doomsday machine is only about four times the length of a galaxy class starship. The doomsday machine which was disabled not destroyed, cannot be just left drifting for anyone to find. For this story, the Federation towe the disabled doomsday machine back to a base, for study. After Jean-Luc Picard's first encounter with the Borg, a faction within the Federation began to retool the original doomsday device, into a machine of war. Warhammer is the culmination of years of work, and the knowledge they gain with their contact with the Borg. Even though the treaty with the Romulans, forbids the use phaze technology, the torpedoes aboard Warhammer utilizes technology to deliver its explosive force directly to the heart of an enemy vessel, passing like it ghost through shields and bulkheads alike, before exploding. The phaser's aboard Warhammer utilize a new twist. Drawing on the original power system for the doomsday weapon, it delivers more punch per shot, the 6 regular standard ships. Now for the twist, once the borg pin down your phazer modulation, their shields adjust acordingly, and absorb your energy, funneling it into the cubes power system. (ever see what happens when anti-matter is fed back to another ships power core?) The Phazer technology, does something similar, by souring the milk, so to speak, the borg cannot absorb the energy. Then of course we have the main weapon, the weapon used by the doomsday machine to break up entire planets. Of course such a massive weapon, requires an equally massive power usage. Each time you use the main weapon it draws on the ships toward power, meaning you only get a limited number of uses out of the main weapon. Once drained of power the ship must refuel, by devouring enough usable matter. This is a reason the Federation added the new weaponry, to allow the Warhammer to remain in a pitch battle for a longer period of time between refueling. The ablative hull armor, which is another innovation is just added protection when combined with the original hull made of neutromium, which is a material whose molecules are so dense, that there is literally no space between its molecules. The unique benefit of having a hull made of this material, is that it's so dense it prevents the use of transporters. This means the Borg cannot just beam over to your shipment causeing all kinds of trouble, the only way to stop Warhammer, is too defeated in combat. As you saw the original series, a starship was exploded within the Maw of the doomsday device, causing a cascade overload. To defend against this type attack, the Warhammer has a multifaceted, multilayered force field which protects the Maw. If you could see the force field's, they would very much resemble a multifaceted eye of an insect, each lense of the eye, represents a distinct and separate force field. Each one of these force field's, has its own emitter with its own set of rotating frequencies (this means that the Borg have to defeat each shield 1 at a time) this again takes more time and allows the Warhammer to stay in combat for longer period of time. Warhammer mission, is to journey to the original home planet (using Trans warp engines), of the Borg and destroy it if necessary. For this mission command of the Warhammer has been given to Jean-Luc Picuard, who has since retired to the family winery. Called back into active-duty, and given command of Warhammer, he is the best hope of the successful end to the mission. nearly losing the ship, power seriously depleted, and Warhammer badly damaged, he is pursued by a number of Borg cube's, in need of fuel more than repair. His best chance of accomplishing a refueling, and losing the Borg that are pursuing him, is to make an almost sure suicide run for the system's own sun. As Warhammer emerges from the far side of the sun, the hull the ship is heated almost to the melting point and glowing brightly. The systems sun reacts like an animal's thats been pierced with a sword, as its spasms, streaming solar flares emitting from all sides, destroying most of those that were pursuing him. Now fully charged, Warhammer moves in on the Borg home world. I have a nice speech, in mind for Jean-Luc to give to the Queen before the final shot, ending in resistance is futile! Drawing to a close as the battle rages. Meanwhile as the battle goes on at the Borg home world, the starship to the Federation are joined by the Klingons, Romulans, and even the Cardassian's, for all understand that the Federation falls, their worlds might be next. This part will be similar to wolf 359, lots of battle, lots of ships being destroyed on both sides, basically chaos. By the time we get to that part, Ill have a couple small stories of some other crews involved that battle. You know the human interest story, or that part of the story. (maybe Janeway?) With her experience witht he borg, she would make a nice fleet commander. |

| I like your idea. If you were to back your outline into three acts, what part of the story will be the longest. Are you concentrating the bulk of the story on pre-borg and early borg history, or is the conflict between the federation and borg the main theme. I think that you maybe able to interweave the stories. Start the book of with a battle between the borg and the outpost, and then skip back to the pre-borg war. Also, how long ago did the war between the two planets happen. How long has the borg queen been alive? |

| Since we don't really have a good answer on the begining time for the borg, Im just doing what is needed for the setup for the story.....(a few days before the creation.) that way, it still leaves the door open for other stories to have some leeway. The main part of the story (action, and time consuming) will be the outpost section. |

| 825 to 950 Years Before the U.S.S. Voyager returns home via the Transwarp Conduit would place it in (approximately) the right temporal neighborhood, wouldn't it? I'd love to have a copy of "Borg: The Creation" linked to my personal website somehow. I'd love to see both concepts merged as one. Set against a century-long cold war. An Earth-like planet just teetering on the verge of warp travel. "Blue Mars"-style Seperatists and religious extremists attempt to leave an over-populated/ecologically-stressed & sinfully-indulgent homeworld. They realize they haven't got very long before their own selfishness renders their world uncomfortably toxic to say the least. A scientist is experimenting with nanotechnology for benevolent purposes (an alien equivalent of A.I.D.S. / H.I.V. & other ills such as Cancer) but, as a result of criminal negligence & incompetance, it gets out. A security breach occurs as a result of a feud between women involved with the creator of the rudimentary (at the time) nanoprobe technology. The nanotechnology self-replicates, learns & realizes the planet's sad state of affairs & the potential military threat (to itself,) from its neighbors (the separatists.) It doesn't bother to wait for people to get sick & cure them, it seeks out bipedal beings & assimilates them *first*. The first victim of the nanotechnology taking-over (a-la Skynet in "Terminator",) is The Borg Queen. |
