History of TCS-9063

In order to compensate for a total redesign of the ship I requested a mesh of in another thread, which I'm currently working on in Blender (and would like some help with the fine details once I get to it), I figured that the history of the class I'm creating from scratch now.

GALACTIC COMMAND ARCHIVE, 17 MAY 2465

With the Orna'akian War becoming a dual battle - on the surface of planets as well as in space, we've had to redesign the Anaconda class cruiser to be able to launch strikes on the ground as well as in space.

o The main hull was redesigned to completely do away with the need for a command tower, as that is the primary target for the enemy. The main command center is now embedded within the hull itself.

o The landing claws are now built to allow the cruiser to move along the surface in landed mode, enabling it to become a moving target along the surface.

o The assemblies that extend the claws, initially carrying missiles, disruptor pulse cannons, and PPG cannons, now house surface-use-only weapons such as Vulcan chain guns and RPG launchers for more close-range combat.

The only major foreseeable weakness of the redesign to the Anaconda is that when in motion after landing, the ship is slow moving. This would make it all too easy for the enemy to take out the target, as the shields go down in surface combat as SOP. GALCOM is currently working on an automation override to that problem.
