Star Wars "Unrelenting"

It was a good day, the sun was up, clouds in the air, and nature were stirring about doing its daily chores in the routine of life. Life, now there was something with a whole new meaning. It always had a meaning but since then it has changed, before the invasion life was in away taken for granted, yet protected. In a sense life became complacent, then like a bolt of lightning striking from the heavens it was disrupted, scattered, smothered, and extinguished.

Once this galaxy burned brightly, now it is scattered specks of light running away from the deep well of midnight, a black sheet of taint spreads across the plain from the outer rim to the core. But at least here there is no sign of the midnight, the light still burn brightly and the skies are still blue. With that Jek Towiin a Jedi knight turned around and headed back to his ship. When he reached his ship his R3 unit chirped with enthusiastic beeps, now it’s been known the R2 units to develop little quirks in them that almost made it seem they had their own personality but this was all supposed to be done away with when the R3 units came out. Never the less this on was well on its way to breaking that so called mold.

“What is it R3, I don’t suppose anything exciting happened while I was away.”

With a few beeps and chirps that simply stated that nothing out of the ordinary had occurred Jek loaded up the last of his things and began his prep for launch.

“Engines online….. Navigation online…… repulsors online….. Life support online…… looks like everything else is green.”

With that the Jedi and his droid were off the planet pushing there way back to orbit. Once in space Jek and R3 did last minute checks on the coordinates and with a flash of light the ship was gone. Now for the long silence of hyperspace. Nothing to do except sit, and wait for them to emerge on the other side. One thing that Jek was great full for was that at least his ship was larger than a fighter. But smaller than a light freighter. It was long and slender at the cockpit but was big enough for 3 people to sit and in the back were 2 small bunks and small cold storage for rations. Nothing was original about his ship, since Jek grew up with the tales of Han Solo and the mighty Chewbacca racing across the galaxy fighting the Empire. Jek idolized in a way and did has he would and modified his ship. In Jek’s eyes his ship was far better looking and newer than the Falcon.

The Midnight sported 2 dual lasers on the outboard sections of his wings, 1 quad laser on top that was computer controlled and a missile launcher on the belly of the craft. Military grade shields and an improved subspace communicator that he boasted was the best in the galaxy, although he never proved it. The one special thing about the midnight was skin of the ship, it wasn’t your standard armor plating but an experimental alloy that not only kept the ship electronic signatures from leaking out but also made it invisible to radar or so it was suppose to. It was ideal for Jek to slip into a system and set down on a planet with drawing any attention to himself. About 10 minutes into hyperspace Jek got up and walked back to one of the bunks. He laid his head back and took a little nap.

“Hey R3, make sure you wake me up if anything happens.”

And with that the Jedi was fast asleep. Streaking stars and bright gold Nebulas, Jek was floating in space. Where had his ship gone, no matter his body was traveling down a blue shaft of light, he looked all around and saw nothing but the stars and space, with a planet here and there shooting past. With a bright flash Jek was jolted back to reality, he came to in his bunk on his ship with the sounds of R3 notifying him that they have returned to normal space and Endor was off in the distance. What a strange place to visit, he remembered the last conversation he had with Master Luke.

“Jek I need for you to look into something for me”
“anything Master Skywalker”
“I need you to travel to Endor and see how our furry friends are doing, and since the only thing still there is an old Imperial landing platform there is really nothing of technology there. My only concern is the Ewoks could not fight the Yuhzan Vong.”

Luke looked into Jek’s eyes and started to remember the last time he was on that planet, the day he saved his father, the day the Emperor died, the day the Empire died.

“Master Skywalker, consider it done, I will go and see how our furry friend are doing, believe me if there is anything out of the ordinary ill see to it at once.”

With a slight chuckle from Luke and rested his hands on Jek’s shoulders “I also know that there is someone on Endor that would be interested to see you Jek, I understand that she has been on Endor for some time now. You two should talk.” With that being said Jek could no longer hide his smile for he knew who waited for him on the forested planet.

“Ahh yes, Master Marianna, but why send another Jedi to the same planet.”

Luke smiled some more and simply said that there was no reason just a feeling that he was going off of. Jek said his good byes and was on his way, while making his approach to the planet his chest filled with butterflies because the feeling of Master Marianna was strong and intense. He could remember almost everything about her.

Though Jek was only 28 cycles and the Women that care so deeply for was 41 cycles there was no changing his emotion. He closed his eyes and reached out with the force to feel for her, kind of like a hello form Jek. Stretching his senses out ward, he felt the touch of the one that he had been looking for. Marianna was so gentle and sweet that it even resonated through the force.

These sensations always made his mind wonder back to the first day they met, back before he was even a Jedi. That day was like any other day wakening up at the academy on Yavin IV, where Jek spent the majority of his time. This was because His Master went off on a mission but one that he was told to dangerous for Jek so instead Master Fin’juh told Jek that he was to stay at the academy and practice his teachings till the day he returned. Well that left a lot open to interpetation because Master Fin’juh wasn’t always by the book. A lot if not all of that had rubbed off on Jek.

The young Jedi would show up to sparring matches watching his peers and younglings practice relentlessly on their saber skills and more often than not he would join in for a bout or two just to spice things up. The other teachers did not appreciate it very much but Jek always explain that his intervention was a lesson in it self that one should be prepared for the unexpected and react quickly to it. The Unexpected should never make a Jedi off balance. Though his explanation was sound the other teachers at the academy did not approve, this provoke Jek in to continuing to do more. Never really bound by a day of structure Jek would tend to seek adventure at a spur of the moment. Out in the wilderness of Yavin IV, or see what kinds of secrets he could unearth in the great temple that has been reclaimed by the jungle.

One day our would be Jedi decided that going to the roof of the academy would indeed reveal something of great importance and start a new adventure, though at the time he had no clue what it was but again it was a spur of the moment feeling and he went with it. Once at the top of the Temple he looked around at the great landscape that was before him, the endless tree canopy, birds and other creatures flying, the great blue sky and beyond, he was sure of it. This was the adventure that had sparked his mind, the sky and beyond, oh what a joy it would be to fly high in the clouds and then soar in to space and dance with the stars.

This was his biggest dream ever since he was young, when he still remembered his parents. That feeling of being free in the sky filled his heart with so much joy, Jek honestly felt that if he were to run off the roof of the temple he could actually fly and for a moment he almost believed it. The Force was strong but could he actually fly? Sure he could jump far and high but he never tried to fly. So to test his theory out he walked to the edge of the temple roof and scouted out the area below, most likely the areas on which he would fall to.

He looked at all the trees and the fields and vines and so on, and boy he did wish for lake or some sort of a body of water, now that would have made his choice a lot easier. Just down below Jek herd a lot of clamor and laughter. Nothing could be made out but a jumble of noises that were faint. He look down and saw that it was a class of younglings with there teacher going out for their lesson on the living force and how every thing is connected from tree, to plant, to bug, to animal, to people, even to the microscopic things that populate every where.

Jek stared down at the class and remembered when he was that young, but he was no youngling oh no, he was on his way to become the greatest Jedi in the Galaxy. Well that’s what he always said while standing in front of a mirror. He grew up in the Imperial reminent on the Capital planet of Bastion, his father a proud Star Destroyer Captain and his mother, well he doesn’t remember his mother. As far as he could remember Jek could not figure out how he ended up in the New Republic or the Jedi temple on Coruscant, it’s like one day he woke up and poof he was on his way to being a Jedi.

The days of being young and full of wonder and curious of everything around him, and even still being older far more curious especially for the teacher he saw even now as he gazes down ward to the base of the temple to that class of children. Just then their teacher looks right up towards Jek and smiles, this was enough to make him duck his head and slightly blush. Slowly he peered back over the edge and caught another glimpse and again the teacher looked up and smiled.

Though Jek had a lot of raw talent in the force he was nothing compared to a Master and no matter what he did she could sense him. It was at this time he stood up and slide down the side of the temple walls using the force to steady him and slow his decent to a manageable speed. Of course in true fashion, on the way down he did his best to put on a show. Switching stances, using only one foot, doing flips over obstacles. Almost to the bottom Jek decided to show off and do a flip right off the wall and to the ground right in front of the kids.

He did in fact flip and land in front of the kids but he happen to stumble on his landing and fell flat on his face with a chorus of laughter to follow, after standing back up and his face brightly red from embarrassment and injury Jek quickly did a bow and protested that was all done on purpose. When he was finished dusting himself off, cleaning off his pride no doubt he was face to face with Master Marianna, standing there with the softest look in here eyes and a smile on her face that made him forget about his injury. “Very well executed Jek, it looked as if it were almost an accident.” There was no fooling her, I must have been about as gracefull as Bantha on Ice. Now that would be a sight to see.
