When ever devastation hits the planet you know that the city that never sleeps is not going to be sleeping again.. Cloverfield Godzilla The Day after Tomorrow Mimic Matrix.. (although not specified - looks very much like NY - Subway Scene) Independence Day The Day The Earth Stood Still (although not destroyed but disrupted) King Kong (all of them) Fail Safe (not science fiction - but fiction) SpiderMan Series The Incredible Hulk.. Lots of other destroyed candidates on the city hit list... Los Vegas -- Resident Evil -- Damnation Alley San Francisco is a another target of destruction -- The Core -- The Rock -- XMen -- The Hulk Just to name but a few.. Of course there is LA too.. -- Volcano -- Earthquake (that was an easy one) -- Escape from LA -- Terminator New Yorkers I think love seeing there city in movies.. Even if it's getting destroyed at the time (Excluding 911 of course). I think also there is a certain amount of politics in the decision. Most of the money for movies happens in New York. That is the heads of the production companies reside there. So it's not an insult to them in a sense that they are blowing up there city but in that a Destroyed New York is something that the CEO's and production companies will take notice of.. |
