Downloads: 8 Uploads: 32 | SFM invited to the sets of BSG, Atlantis, and Flash Gordon! Dear Members, Today we have an unprecedented opportunity in the history of SFM. For the first time ever, the Sci-Fi Channel (Which produces such classic series as Battlestar Galactica and Stargate Atlantis) has granted SFM access to its productions. That's right, we have been given a pass to wander through the corridors of the mighty Battlestar Galactica, traverse the ancient halls of Atlantis, rub shoulders with cast and crew and photograph as much reference material as Aceman's memory cards will hold. Again, this is a UNIQUE, ONCE-IN-A-LIFETIME opportunity, but we need your help to get there. Despite sparing as much as we can, We still require about $900.00 for the plane fare to send Aceman and all the portable recording equipment he owns to the production studios in Vancouver. In return for your donation you will recieve privileged Donor status on the site, have access to an article detailing the visit and exclusive on-set reference material. Not to mention the satisfaction of helping SFM go where no 3D Scifi Website has gone before! http://www.scifi-meshes.com/forums/billspaypal.php Thanks! Staff --- Aceman writes --- Last week I was contacted by the marketing department of the Sci Fi Channel about an upcoming SCI FI Digital Press Tour, to be held on June 25-27th. During this event, which will be held ON THE SETS of BattleStar Galactica, StarGate Atlantis, Eureka!, and Flash Gordon, there will be interviews with the talent, a dinner, and behind-the-scenes tours of each show. Needless to say, this is an amazing opportunity that I would love to attend. However, as with everything, it costs money. Air Fare, hotel, food, etc.. they ad up. A few searches of airlines has revealed the cost of the flight (round-trip from DC to Vancouver) is roughly about 900.00. I can't cover that entirely on my own. I posted about this event to a few members and was encouraged to hold a fund raiser to attempt to raise the money to cover the cost of the trip. So here goes.... I hope to raise enough money to cover the cost In a dream world, we could raise more then enough, and the extra funds could be used to purchase memorabilia from the shows, and get it signed by the stars from the shows, and then somehow be given away on SFM. During this event, I would maticulously log the days events, and nightly post updates (with images) so everyone on SFM could experience the event with me. I have a new Nikon D80, that I would FILL with photos (provided I was allowed) of the sets, celebs, etc.. More than likely, most of this would be handled via the forums or a special blog area created for this event. I will get ALOT of reference photos.. as you can imagine. I'm estimating it will cost about $1200 (conservative number) for the entire trip, the flight cost being the bulk of the cost. So - IF you are so inclined to help send me to Vancouver Canada for the Sci Fi Channel Digital Press Event, please use the following link, OR the link on the navbar, to send WHATEVER donation you can make towards this endevour. Paypal is the best and only method I have to recieve funds at this time. I MUST order my plane ticket soon, so time is of the essence. http://www.scifi-meshes.com/forums/billspaypal.php I promise to write a detailed and visually interesting summary of my trip, while on it, for everyone to enjoy. If I can get a hold of a celeb and get an autograph on some type of item, you can bet I'll past it along via SFM in some way. IF YOU have questions you would like asked of the crew of the shows mentioned above, provided the opertunity, I would be happy to ask your question and let you know there answers. (I have no list of who's going to be there). If details change, I will make sure to pass that information along to everyone immediately. I am checking to see if I can bring a guest, and who may or may not be there from each show. I'm told greater details are coming soon. It goes without saying that I am VERY GREATFUL to anyone who can help with this fund raiser. If you are not able to help, I thank you for considering it. It is definately not required, but is appericated. A copy of the email I got is below: I have an incredible announcement for you, which I have been chomping at the bit to invite you to. In an acknowledgment that the times they are achangin', SCI FI Channel has decided to embrace the new generation of online press with a first-ever SCI FI Digital Press Tour, a two-day extravaganza. The event is a special, one time Digital Press Event, held exclusively for online journalists. This event has been in the works for quite a while and I am very excited to extend an invite to you. On June 25-27, in Vancouver, SCI FI Channel will be holding a Digital Press event that includes:

| 2d art is treated as a bastard child in 3D forums. There are cultures on this planet that are just plain not ready for advanced technologies like explosives and automatic guns | |

Additionally - someone (withheld for the time being) mentioned that printing some SFM posters of BSG models and getting them signed would be a great way to promote scifi-meshes.com at the event, AND cool to give away on SFM post event!! awesome idea. |

| Lt. Lockhart:... we have a new directive from M.A.F. on this. In the future, in place of "search and destroy," substitute the phrase "sweep and clear." Got it? Private Joker: Got it. Very catchy. | |

Downloads: 8 Uploads: 32 | Several people have PM'd me about cheaper flights. Here is my delima - and I've not selected any definate flight. Westjet is cheap.. but only leave from areas like Florida, or texas (that I could see) so I would have to fly south from Washington DC, to florida, then fly back north.. uggh.. about 10 hours of flying. I probably can't leave until the 25th so the Air Canada flight direct from Dulles Int. to Vancouver would get me there ontime before the Opening Dinner. The flight back are on the evening of the 27th.. I probably have to be back in the office on thursday the 28th, so again time is working against me. This is why I quoted the 900.00 price tag. We have raise over 500.00 just today towards this trip so we're well on our way to the goal. Right now it's looking VERY GOOD that I'm going.. and Ohhh the images, videos, and stories I will tell during the trip and when I get back. I plan on borrowing my sister's laptop to post while at the event and nightly when at the hotel. I'll have audio, video, and photos.. if they will let me shot it.. you'll see it.. I promise. |
