The site is starting to slow down now . . . too much stuff, too many flash docs and coding extras. typing text is slowing down and text selection is inaccurate. The background image is so dark I can hardly see it which makes me wonder whether or not it is necessary.
Just some thoughts . . . .

umm.. most templates are standard, as in.. ALOT of code was stripped out of them from preivous skins "like the last one" which have actually streamlined the site significantly. Additionally, there is 1 flash file, that does not load an image until it's needed. The flash file is actually highly optimized and used by several thousand sites around the globe in a much more robust manner. I have toned that done alot also.

The background image is dark because it's in line with skin it's shown for.

I'll consider placing the option to have the flash header ON or Off in the usercp. This may speed up your experience. Relatively speaking, this skin compared to the old skin is far "speeder" then before. With less graphics loading per page, less custom code in each template - compared to the default skin that comes with vbulletin. And the server loads over the last 3 days has been noticably lower.

smooth.. I like that..

My intention was not to make the appearance all about scifi-meshes.com. It's YOU GUYS/GALS artwork that should be the "wow". My goal was to create a nice looking site, less cluttered, less gadgets, and more about what we're here for "3D Science Fiction".

I don't need praise to exist and go forward, but it sure does feel nice when it appears more people like the site then hate it.

Ace I don't hate the site, I like it, I am just saying it's running a bit slow compared to the other skin. All of a sudden my typing is starting to stall and I can't highlight text for copy pasting as smoothly as before, it jumps around from line to line . . . . trust me I'm not making this up, I've got other things to do than write bogus comments about the forum. If it's just me and my machine, fine i will be quiet and go away, however I am just saying it's a bit slow. . . . . (smiles and group hugs)

Really now, saying hate is too strong a word. Another word would be better because you can't hate the site for what it brings together into one convenient spot. I can't think of another word but don't use hate!

Yup, I have to say, I'm noticing improved performance across all 3 major platforms I browse the site with. It's worth noting that I no longer have that awkward bug where the page background would load, followed by the content itself a minute or so later. I can open pages in tabs and know they'll be there by the time I click on them.

I'm not sure why you'd be finding the site slower GP- in my experience this is the fastest the site's been in years.

I have been noticing a little bit lately that when I return to the site after being away for a bit (hour?) that 'new posts' or 'forums' returns a blank page on the first try. (firefox). Other then that it is running pretty smooth.
