Ace will get the opportunity to take photos of sets and props, meet and greet both the stars and the people behind the scenes, and get an invaluable insight into working within a successful large-scale broadcast environment- surely something most people here are interested in to varying levels.

I don't think Ace and the other admins ask too much of the members here- there's no "premium" tier of membership that you've gotta fork out for, or "members only resources" like on other websites, as long as you've registered you've got access to everything we have. All thats asked in return is that people prticipate and act with courtesy and respect. Now that may be too much for some people- we've seen their kind come and go over the years, and we don't think they'll stop any time soon. The general concensus of the staff however is that as the man at the top who ultimately sorts out all the **** we throw his way, and does his best to stop the Server bursting into flames at random moments- as well as spends a ****load on making sure we *dont* have to charge people to visit, he deserves to reap a reward or two from all the hard work he's done- he's sure as hell not being paid for it.

I mean if he gets all the way out there and they don't let him, the board has just paid for a holiday for him, and still end up with no new references.

Well if he can't take photos and talk to people, then this will be the strangest 'press' related visit that I've ever heard of - I don't think that there is any fear that he'll be overly restricted in that regards.

Indeed. He's been invited for the explicit purpose of taking behind-the-scenes pictures and interviews. Amusingly enough, Ace will be, like, one of maybe 2 people seeking out the SF/X crew while all the other interviewers will be drooling over the actors. I doubt they'd even notice he's there... unless, of course, he starts drooling over the set pieces. I can just see it now....

"Sir, would you please put that down? You're drooling all over it and the talent don't like slimey props. Hey, stop! You can't put that in your pocket! I don't know what the hell 'SFM' is and I don't care if it IS for a good cause! Put it back or we'll call Security!"

The invite was address to the owner of scifi-meshes.com. I have requested via reply, if I am allowed to bring guests with me on this trip. They have yet to reply. If and when I get an answer I will let everyone know.

I would love to bring along some members. And yes, a few have asked to go. No need to flood my PM box with requests just yet. And there IS a personal cost for this trip to anyone who may or may not go.

Now, if they say yes.. you can bring X number of people. And by some miracle enough money was raised via donations, I would definitely use the donations to cover the trip. Hell we'd save money by splitting hotel costs, etc. Win/win. How the selection is made of who goes is yet to be decided.

Anyone going is warned, I snore (I'm told on occasion), so bring ear plugs. I know I will be. Nothing worse then not sleeping.

BTW - I can pretty much confirm that regardless of money totals. I will definately be going. I'll make an offical anouncement later today.

I would like to add:

ALL of the content (Photos, video, audio, swag) will be made available to registered members of scifi-meshes after the trip.

IF you have donated and are in a SFM Donators status, I will be posting while on the trip in a special area, the images (video and audio will have to wait until I get home to compress - my borrowed laptop is crap) I take will be made available almost immediately in an uncompressed (10.2MegaBit Jpeg format). Additionally threads detailing the days events will be posted, and questions (FROM YOU - That I was able to get asked) will be answered. (I'll be recording each interview session).

Please note that I'll be FILLING at least 2 4-GB scandisk cards with photos, so I'll post the HOT stuff while on the trip and then EVERYTHING upon returning home.

For those who were unable to donate. I will post reduced (smaller) images and repeating sections of the daily events log while on the trip. I'm trying to thank those to help fund the trip by giving them access FIRST to the high-res content.

After the trip is over, I will post ALL high-res content for every registered member (reguardless of donor status) for everyone on SFM to enjoy and use at their discretion. This trip is for EVERYONE who's a member, I'm just letting donators at the high-res stuff first. Seems fair.

A special forum will be opening soon where YOU can post questions that you would like of the celebs, I'll select the best questions from the threads and ask them FOR YOU. And I will post every answered question verbatim (audio of the interview will also be available, video if the let me video the sessions).
