Tsk tsk. I'm a married man now. What need have I of Playboy? But when my son turns 18, I'll mention it to him in the form of some "fatherly" advice. Of course, by then, Playboy will be almost entirely replaced by Google......

The only downside to Google replacing Playboy is that you could read a Playboy magazine one-handed. Googling nekkid chicks one-handed is sometimes very difficult and sorta kills the mood, don't it?

Don't get me wrong. I think it is GREAT that Aceman is going. I equally think it is GREAT that they recognize the site. My question was geared towards what he would bring back that would be for all of us members. Because to be completely honest, pictures are good, but meshes or something would be awesome even if there are copyright and legal issues too great to make that possible.

That is all. After that, Aceman, have a blast and I wish I could go.

As someone who's done his fair share of interior work, lots of large, juicy, crisp, detailed reference materials would damn near make my day. We will get to see a side of some of our favorite sci-fi shows that most people will NEVER see in such close detail. And the members get that from this site for FREE. Hell, membership here is free! Everyone will have access to those reference materials, some sooner than others, but all will benefit.

Getting to go behind the scenes vicariously through Aceman is not something any of us should take lightly if we all truly are interested in sci-fi and 3D. It's exciting and opens up new venues for our work. No more will we have to wonder about the shape of wall sconces, the texture of the chair fabrics, the grouping of certain buttons on a console, the placement of various insignias on doors and hallways. No longer will we find ourselves wanting for a decent screen-cap of a 1/2-second bit of scene just to learn if the chairs in the C&C are bolted to the deckplates or if they're on rollers.

And I'm sure that Aceman will be able to get some STELLAR reference pics of the life-sized mockups for the Vipers. For the Stargates themselves. For the weapons. All kinds of stuff, all of it in high-definition video and images.

I'm not sure if everyone truly appreciates the opportunity afforded to not just Aceman but ALL of us with this thing. Aceman has poured a lot of his time and energy into this site. He's made a lot of VERY strong bonds and friendships through it, too, just by sharing the same passion that we have for 3D and sci-fi in general. He's never let us down before and we should have no reason to expect that he'll leave us wanting now. I have absolute and full confidence in Aceman that he WILL bring back some uber-schwag when it's all over. And, hell, if he doesn't... I'm just glad that I was, for once, able to contribute to someone's happiness- especially when that someone is directly responsible for enriching MY life by making this wonderful website in the first place.

Go have some fun, Ace. Seriously. I want to hear that they've had to surgically remove the smile from your face when you get back!

Thanks Nightshadow - I'll do my best to do you proud. If they allow it I"ll get it. Additionally, I have alittle secret brewing that will grant me extended and near unlimited access to the set of BattleStar Galactica, provided everything works out. No promises, but things look good to go beyond the tour slotted for this event on the set of BSG. Can't say more at the moment, or risk it falling through.

Well, I've been meaning to donate to SFM for a while, and no better reason then to send Aceman over on this trip... so my money's in! It will be really nice to see what types of photos and ref. materials we'll get access to. Very cool opportunity for Aceman and the entire SFM community!!!
