Blog Entries: 2 | Little question about the "send aceman through the stargate" thing Is the invite actually in Aceman's name? Because if the invite is for a representative of the board, I bet a lot more donations would be given, if everyone donating had an equal chance of actually going on the trip. Just imagine how fast the money could be raised if every $10 donated gave you a 1 in 100 chance of actually going yourself, with a number being assigned to every donator, and the winner being picked at random from those numbers. I know obviously for some people the trip would involve a much longer journey, although equally for some, a much shorter one. |

| Ace is the owner of the site and therefore it's only logical that he should be the one to go. Besides, he's going to bring back a crap load of stuff from the trip that the membership will get to use. |

| Though I can see where you are coming from Bio, I think that regardless of journey trip, and the fact that the invite did go to him anyway, Aceman deserves this. My take on this is that save certain people donating to the site relatively small amounts, Aceman has kept this site running for years on his own financial merits. He'll no dount be bringing back goodies (even if just images etc.) for the site, but personally, I think it time to give him a payback. |

| While the idea is somewhat interesting to make the offer for any SFM member to go, the problem lies in $$$. A trip to Vancouver from Chicago or L.A. is going to cost different than if the departure point was Nashville or San Antonio, y'know? At any rate, I agree wholeheartedly that Aceman deserves this above all others. He's sacrificed time, money, energy and even sleep to keep this website alive for all these years. He's invested more of himself into this place than ANYONE here and that is simply impossible to dispute. A lot has happened to and for him in recent times- marriage and a child being two of the most pivotal changes and challenges before him. The man deserves a vacation, and a damn good one at that! I've already submitted my donation of $20. C'mon, folks- out of the literal THOUSANDS of SFM members, I'm sure we can raise enough $$$ for this thing to happen. Even $5 is a small amout- you'd spend that much on a trip to Taco Bell, which would cost more than just sitting at home and whipping up some Mac'n'Cheese. After all he's done for us, it's time that we do something especially nice for him, don't you think? |

| Still Alive | AND THERE'S THE P (oops caps) and there's the possibility of souvenirs, and merchandise and general schwag to be had, one would assume ![]() some of which would make damn fine contest prizes this is definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity for the site to get some recognition, and certainly a once in a lifetime opportunity for Ace to see the sights. |
