Mesh suggestion

I saw Aceman's thread about the mesh section having problems, now this has probably been suggested before, but I think there should be a meshes forum, with sub-forums for the different genres, and my favorite part, mesh hosting on sites other than SFM, downloads would finally work. What do you think?

I think it would only work if the modellers had webspace themselves and only if thier host site remained stable, as soon as a host site goes down, whallop you have three hundred screaming mesh hoarders yelling 'I CAN'T D/LOAD SUCH N SUCH MODEL, WAH WAH WAH!!!'.

Leave it alone untill Chris can afford to spend some time on it, the models aren't as important as the art or community.

Hosting would be a problem, but for some of us like me it would be wonderful to be able to actually download something (the only mesh I ever downloaded here was a 90 kb file).

I think that's more likely something at your end as opposed to SFM.

Download manager/firewall settings can have some pretty nasty side effects.

I'm not sure what the problem is. I've tried it on three or four different computers and a number of operating systems, maybe it's just our Internet connection. Maybe someone else has an idea about the hosting problems with this method.

The downloads have a nasty habit of timing out on people. No real cure for that one, except making sure you're not using an accelerator and that your firewall's not getting in the way, and trying again at a different time.
