Problems uploading pics

Hello,

I've been trying to upload some of my pictures to both the gallery and the forums and I have been experiencing something unusual. When I hit submit, the dialog box for uploading stuff loads for a bit and then goes blank with the word "done" at the bottom. I've tried leaving it for a while, logging in/logging out, clearing cookies in IE, clearing the cache in IE. The problem is that it happens intermittently. I was able to post a few things in the forums last night, so I thought the problem was confined to the gallery but then it happened in the forums today. Any suggestions on what to do would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Fafnir_6

I think this is more likely to be an issue with your firewall settings rather than anything SFM related, otherwise we'd have a rash of threads like this.

Hello,

I solved the problem. It actually does not have to do with firewall settings (tried it with firewall on & off, btw). If the file you are uploading exceeds the pixel dimensions allowed, the upload screen will go to a blank screen. It might be a good idea show an error screen if this happens because I had no way of knowing (the picture seemed small enough and actually only exceeded the maximum by 85 pixels). If the upload screen had bitched at me right away I wouldn't have needed to bother you all with this. I suppose it is ultimately my bad for not watching my file sizes more closely (slaps wrist), but an error screen is needed IMHO.

Anyway, thanks for your assistance,

Fafnir_6

I always check the dimensions of any picture before I try to upload it, I'd get into the habit if I were you.
