The following guidelines are written to assist you in receiving the help you are looking for. Please take a moment to read them before posting.

First and foremost, remember to be polite when asking for assistance. While this may sound like pretty obvious stuff to some of you, you'd be astonished by the sheer volume of requests present at this time of writing that do not even contain the words please and thank you. Remember - Any help you receive here on Scifi-Meshes is due solely to the kindness of our members. No one is required to help you and it is unlikely that anyone will feel like helping you at all if you come across as rude, arrogant and demanding.

Modelling Requests

Important! Please note that creating 3d models is a complex and time-consuming process. In many cases, it can take dozens if not hundreds of hours to complete some of the models you see on our site.

It is in your best interests to provide a detailed description of what you are looking for (including pictures/photos if relevant). Be specific about what you want. A page of statistics on how many warp coils, torpedo launchers etc. your ship has is almost completely useless to a modeller. They need to know more general information - What universe is the ship set in (Star Wars/Star Trek/Battlestar Galactica/Stargate/etc), what race does the ship belong to etc etc.

Also, here at Scifi-Meshes, our members receive hundreds of requests from the public to create models every month. With this in mind, it is recommended that you offer some form of incentive to artists in order to attract them to your request. While money is the most obvious incentive that you could offer, there are others, including interesting designs that may attract an artist's attention or detailed information about what you intend to do with the model. Be creative!

Reference Material Requests

When asking for reference material, obviously the more information you can provide, the better. Please make sure that you've done some research your self before troubling others - in many cases, a simple search on Google can turn up the images you need.

Feel free to contact me or any of the staff if you have any questions.
