    Excelsior-class Bridge WIP

    Hey folks,

Been playing with modeling for a while, but this is my first post on here.

This is a WIP bridge set for an 24th Century Excelsior-class ship. My plan was to start with enough elements from the original Excelsior bridge that it would be familiar, but to try to update things for a newer look. A number of ideas for the layout and design came from a friend of mine...he started a parody web site some time ago, and I'm helping him out with a possible animation based on some of his stories.

If this does become an animation, it will probably be done using iClone or similar software. To that end, I've been trying to keep shapes relatively simple, minimize effects and rely more on textures for the look I want. So I'm not using any advanced lighting or post-effects in these shots.

Many of the basic elements are close to finished. Work remains on the floors, the conn/ops consoles, the side consoles (not quite visible here) and the main screen. The LCARS displays are also incomplete...especially the ship graphic. The other LCARS are original work, with the exception of the Federation shield/emblem things. I tossed those in as place-holders until I can make some actual displays to fill in those sections.

And...uh...if anybody is wondering, the name of the ship is 'USS Secondprize'...

I really like the general direction of this but I must be honest: the segmentation is killing me, especially around the turbolift alcoves. Also, the overall proportions feel off. Remember, that set was only 36ft in diameter. I can send you some very useful references in a day or two.

Yeah, I know there are more than a couple areas where trying to keep with simpler shapes is really showning. As for the size and shape of the original Excelsior/Ent-A set...I haven't really paid much attention to that. The set isn't even close to being circular, especially the front half. Liberties have definitely been taken.

Here's a shot that shows a bit more of the front. As you can see, there's a lot of work to do...I've been working my way from the rear forward. Just to give you a better idea of the overall layout.

It's a good start. Though, I've gotta agree about the segmentation.

Incremental updates on the center floor, consoles, and the ship display at the back. Still some small glitches with the consoles and a lot left to do on the display.

Thank you for your feedback. I do plan on trying to improve the turbolift alcoves...just haven't gotten there yet.Click image for larger version.

You know I am liking this a lot. The segmentation isn't bothering me but the displays are. I hope you plan on replacing those when you get the general modeling finished. Keep it up.

The main thing I planned on doing w.r.t. the displays was taking out all the little Federation emblems and replacing them with screens better suited to each station. The overall design, with the blue LCARS bars, wasn't going to change much. But I'm open to suggestions for alternatives...

Managed to get a bunch of work done on the side stations and the front of the bridge.

The LCARS displays are killing me, but work is coming along there as well.

    Waystation? Nice idea...

Looks more and more like a mix between the Ent-A and the Ent-E though....
