Page Redirection Since The Site Went Offline Last Week

Ever since the site came back up after last week's outage I've been getting page redirections every time I click on any of the forum headers. This has been happening on my iPad all week and I just tried it on my PC at work and got another page redirection. Is the site infected with a virus or malware of some kind or was this done as a fund raising effort using click-thru or pay to click?

    Thanks.

    Sean.

dunno could be bad ads. But I think the ads here are only google.
I have found the following urls serving content that are 3rd party.

    mfio.cf/
    mlvc4zzw.space/1082464/
    oei1.gq/

I have not seen any redirects or additional pages but I do run scripts that block common spam issues.

Headers and forum links seem to be working OK here.

Can you provide more detail on browser, plugins (if any), and specific links (i.e what you're clicking on, where it should take you and where it actually takes you)?

I had this issue until I re-enabled my ad blocker for this site. I was tired of clicking on "New Posts" and it redirecting me to an ad. I don't know why it's doing this, but if it gets fixed I'll disable the ad blocker again so that the site can have ad revenue from me.

Any time I left-click anywhere on the page - headers, threads, even just now on this box - I get a huge pop-under, usually for some sort of adult site.

First I suggest blocking google analytics. If this stops the spam/porn/pop-unders then that is the issue. The Google analytics stuff has been spoofed in the past and allows hackers/spammers to run whatever scripts they want.

If this is the case I would report it here so admin can do what they need to.

I have found on a win8 machine lacking some of the scripts and additional blacklists that ajax.googleapis seems to cause random slew of sites to load XML requests. As I blocked each one a new one would load. none show up ad "bad" urls but not nice whatever it is to use multiple sites to avoid blocking. Once ajax was blocked this behaviour stopped.

example of sites that were loading before ajax.googleapis was blocked:
    1wzfew7a.site/
    gjol8ib0.website
    cd8iw9mh.cricket
it would have continued if I kept reloading the page.

mobtrks.com was another site that appeared on the win8 pc. (not on my other systems though)
All of these "hits" stopped when I blocked all google ads.

Again I have yet to see any of these pop-unders or porn spam on any machine here or my tablet or phone (android) but I do run hosts bans on almost all my machines and portables so I am not a good unprotected example.

Those running Windows I suggest spybot for at least the hosts file blocks. Other than that I suggest at a malicous IP blocker on whatever client you run. ABP is good as you can use a list that allows known SAFE ads to allow sites like SFM to gather revenue but block exploits using those ad sites or other nasties. (I leave you to find these lists)

Another windows tool is peerblock but it needs a maintained list of IPs. It is a active blocker though and not as low cost as a modified hosts file.

    UNRELATED TO THE SPAM BUT,
If you DO use ABP or any script modifier you will likely need to add grease monkey and add the anti-adblocker blocker to get around sites that take content hostage for protecting yourself. IE TrekBBS blocks all access unless you remove any HTML modifying scripts not just adblockers or script blockers. I have had this "trigger" go off just from a modified hosts file. It basically detects that a element or url is not executed and triggers the blocker overlay redirect etc.

This day and age no one should be browsing anything or connecting to the net without some sort of script blocker or bad hosts list.

    Thanks MKF!
I blocked the Google Analytics and then I adjusted my pop-up blocker to stop all pop-ups with a notification of the blocked pop-up. Seems to be working. I have reloaded the page several times and I've seen notifications across the bottom of the screen when it blocks a page from loading.

For me its like an overlay over the entire page (the page becomes a button) which launches the offending and offensive site browser windows. the pop-up blocker on firefox is not preventing this. any suggestions? If this cannot be repaired I will need to stop coming here...

I'm having this problem on here too, but only on this site. There is one particularly irritating one that fills your screen and spams so you can't get rid of it and have to shut down your browser which is most annoying. I have a pop up blocker on, so I don't know why I am getting this crap. It has to be something on the website server end as I don'r have this issue on any other site. Needs sorting as is a really serious problem, makes the site practically unusable.
