Multi-media hyperlinked cemetery debuts in Japan

Previously, we told you about the real-life-meets-science-fiction trend of video messages popping up on gravestones. But a new technological twist from Japan takes paying respects to your loved ones a step further. A company called Ishinokoe has implemented QR technology (think barcodes on steroids) to outfit gravestones with cell phone accessible hyperlinks to a website where visitors can instantly view images, words and videos from the deceased person's life. Using the QR code guests can also view a greeting from the deceased person's "chief mourner" as well as messages left in the grave's guestbook. At this rate, it's just a matter of time before morticians will be required to train in spam blocking techniques and IT support. Via Mainichi News
