Mesh created in blender. Planet, background and touchup in photoshop. This is our loading screen for our upcoming game Aphelion:Phoenix Rising. The planet starts out as a frozen planet, and as loading progresses, it terraforms into the planet shown.

The texture on the planet looks good, but I can still recognize Norway, Brazil and South Africa.

yes, I did use the clone brush to create this, but I believe you may be mistaking some areas. Norway is not located anywhere on this image. Neither is South Africa. I can find the the tip of south america, the Himalayas, and an upside down Indonesia. The coastline of Australia is used throughout, as it had nice characteristics and usually always had an angle I could use.
