Nice image and nice idea. In what setting, what kind of universe and timeline ? Oh, and a question that just poked through my mind : how about recoil, verniers used to compensate, I suppose ?

It's a proposed weapons system in this universe, as in right now and the real world. There is very little recoil because gravity accelerates them down after an intial push.

It was also a Star Wars (the Ronald Reagen kind, not the movie) concept design. Velocities can get so ridiculous that kinetic kill weapons are cheaper than putting a laser in space. And in some cases more efficient..
