So, my current work revolves around getting better surfaces, so I started an odd WIP (for Star Trek I think), which is a concept new type of torpedo. I think of it as likely a banned or secret prototype, limited in number. This is the Closed String Supersymettric Torpedo (CSSST), which is an advancement further into the quantum realm of torpedo technology.

This particular shot shows the computer on one side of the torpedo, with a custom LCARS interface. It's about 3 metres long in total. The LCARS panel here is around 28 x 37 cm, to give an idea of scale.

    Cheers!

    Hi there!

I was a member here many years ago, under this user name. I took a very long break (nearly 10 years) from 3D modelling for various reasons. My primary interest is Star Trek, but I do wander into other areas.

When I have time, I will post various things in here, relating probably more to Star Trek than anything else.

OK! More work on the Hangar, and we have transporter emitters and point defense laser turrets!

These complement the drones, protecting the shields and hull from threats too small or swift for the phasers to deal with. Their range is not really big but the type II laser turrets can deal with targets at about 1 light-second, which is usually more than enough.

As they require a powerful computer, targeting sensors and energy sources, smaller ships usually just carry the drones for deception and confusing incoming payload. A destroyer is normally powerful enough, and even some frigates might carry, now that the technology is well developed, but many ships in service don't have them.

As for the hangar, it has two levels, and besides the storage section at the end, it also has a maintenance workshop down in the neck. Definite dotation of crafts still to be decided, but I am thinking 1 Runabout and maybe 5 shuttlepods, 2 D-Warp shuttles and 2 big personal shuttles. Plus a host of worker bees. Which is quite good for a smallish ship like this... :-)

Next will be tractor beam emitters, and to think in all the greebles I want, like shield emitters, VATES sensor emitters and receivers (beside the light emitting strips on the saucer section, of course), etc... Cheers! :-)

Truthfully, I have always been more likely to finish something for someone else than myself.

Well, it is kinda that time of the decade? Well 1.5 decades??. . . . . No fancy sun set up like the last one which was 2 moves ago. Not sure if I ever did a full model of the place I am in now. I know I at least did the main rooms. This place though is a fight in the measurements as spaces are vast and there is this goofy molding on the floor and welp I was tired enough to derp up some measures so there is a fudge room of a inch on everything as the molding is 0.5 in.

Only real reason for this is to plan things out so I know stuff fits and where to send X item or items that reside in X furniture. Also will allow me to judge what to throw out as this move is a mass house clearing too. Just junking a lot of cruft I have picked up in the last 20yrs. Having both grandparents passing I have a overload of furniture and things from those households, so some of it needs clearing as well as a lot of my old stuff I have picked up over the years and beat the snot out of.

As for the modeling, things are done to look as close to the original stuff as possible but just enough to not take too long in modeling it. A lot is still infected with mentalray surfacing etc as the older models are from like 2009. I am also at a loss for the heavy handed AO, this is something I have had a issue with Vray and these "inside" rooms. The material is just a vraymtl with no shaders. Windows will probably remain as simple dummy shapes, the sill exists mostly for furniture clearance.

I was going to have some more done before I posted this, but oh well. I usually don't have much history for my ships, but I decided do a little more for this one.

This ship was a covert intelligence gathering ship for the EssTroshTuhl corporation of the 2nd Core Thrice-Fold Empire 221,000 years ago.

198,000 years ago the ship passed to a Third Alliance ship yard just outside the Tortion Reach. This yard passed into obscurity after the Third Alliance fell (196,000 years ago). The yard was annexed by the Midermarch Council 76,000 years ago, and then by the Zirrik just before they went extinct 68,000 years ago

The ship was purchased for use as an asteroid prospector 41,000 years ago. After discovering its advanced intelligence gathering arrays, the surprised owners put the ship to use and soon discovered enough valuable ores to make continued exploration pointless.

The ship was then parked near the mining office complex, and forgotten until discovered by a ship of the Derelict Survey in 2427.

Updates - think I am nearly done on this one. Few tweaks I want to make. Think I captured a non-human-centric design ethos, and the feel of a different technology to the Protectorate ships - but comments on that are welcome:
