| Administrator | Scifi Channel Digital Press Tour - 2008 Denver Colorado Scifi-meshes.com must have been well represented by Myself, Al3D and Hobbes last year in Vancouver because I was invited yet again to attend their 2008 Digital Press Tour which will be held in Denver Colorado on the 26th-28th of September. We were kinda of the life of the party as it were - taking photos in just about all the sets, and having fun with the various tour guides. It was a lot of fun. This year's event is less about Battle Star Galactica and more about some of the other shows on the Scifi Channel namely "Ghost Hunters", "Destination Truth", "Scare Tactics" and "Sanctuary". Below is a portion of the email I got about the event. As many of you know, last year we held our event in Vancouver to huge success, and this year we look to do something just as fantastic. This year we will be holding an event in Colorado at the Stanley Hotel from Friday, September 26th- Sunday, September 28th. This event will be quite an experience for all who attend and we would love for you to join the fun. We are working to combine both a once in a life time experience for our top partners, as well as some exclusive access and sneak peaks that should not be missed. As many of you remember from last year’s event, the access we were able to provide for Digital Press was truly groundbreaking and something we look to continue this time around. Several months ago a sweepstakes was held for a chance to win a trip to Colorado to experience a weekend of ghost tours with Ghost Hunters Jason and Grant, Q&As and top notch accommodations at the famed and haunted Stanley Hotel (Stephen King’s inspiration for the Shining). SCI FI has decided to pair this incredible event with its annual SCI FI Digital Press Event, where you will be able to experience these same great opportunities, as well as some additional Digital Press-only perks centered around some of the most buzzed about upcoming projects. Below, please find a list of the incredible activities that will be happening throughout the weekend.
While on the trip I'm hoping to be able to provide live updates to either my facebook page, or a via a live stream via scribblelive to provide you a realtime blog of the events. Depending on what's going on this may be realtime or when I can post. I hope to do SFM proud during this event and deliver to the members a comprehensive update on the Scifi shows we all know and love. The content will be exclusive to SFM and available to all registered members. More as I get updates from The Scifi Channel. |

| Administrator | I have inquired as to weather or not I will be able to live blog the event as it happens, if I'll be able to take photos, and whether or not the panel interview will be recorded and made available. I'm still waiting to hear back. Below it the current schedule I was emailed this morning. A few people have contacted me about donating for this trip. I would of course love any support given towards this trip. However, this year I'm not pressing the issue. If you would like to help out you may. Use the Donate button. If I am able to blog-cast the event, I will provide a link to the scribblelive.com page so if you are interested you can follow along from home. Downloads: 0 Uploads: 0 | The list of shows doesn´t sound as impressive as the last one but BSG and Sanctuary are still among my favorites. And the latter might be of interest to many because of why and how the online version relied on CG. I´m sure many of us are still amazed by what you achieved last time. And hats off to your wife. Just because it´s in the states this time around doesn´t mean it won´t put a dent in the budget. |

| Administrator | I got the screener for Sanctuary this morning via FEDEX. Interesting packaging which focuses on the fact that the show is the first series extensively shot on green screen, using virtual sets. I haven't seen the screener yet but as soon as I can find the 80 minutes to do so I'll post a review here. ABOUT THE SHOW Sanctuary, SCI FI's newest original one-hour drama, will trail blaze the television landscape this fall with never-before-seen production technology. Starring Amanda Tapping (best known to fans as the brilliant Colonel Samantha Carter on Stargate SG-1), Sacntuary is the first series to shoot extensively on green screen, using virtual sets and extraordinary visual effects. Sanctuary follows the adventures of the beautiful, enigmatic and always surprising Dr. Helen Magnus (Tapping), a brilliant scientist who holds the secrets of a clandestine population - a group of strange and sometimes terrifying beings that live in hiding among humans. Along with her new recruit, forensic psychiatrist Dr. Will Zimmerman (Robin Dunne), her quirky tech-wiz Henry (Ryan Robbins) and her fearless daughter Ashley (Emilie Ullerup), she seeks to protect this threatened phenomena as well as unlock the mysteries behind their existence. The series also stars Christopher Heyerdahl as the sinister John Druitt. Created by Damian Kindler (Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis), Sanctuary is produced in association with SCI FI Channel and is distributed by Tricon Films and Television. The show is executive produced by Damian Kindler, Sam Egan, Amanda Tapping, Martin Wood, Keith Beedie, and N. John Smith. ADDITIONAL INFO on "Warehouse 13" (Seperate topic) NEW YORK - September 19, 2008 - SCI FI Channel has greenlit production on the new original drama series Warehouse 13, ordering 11 hours including the previously produced two-hour pilot, it was announced today by Mark Stern, Executive Vice President, Original Programming for SCI FI & Co-Head Original Content, Universal Cable Productions. Warehouse 13 stars Eddie McClintock (Bones, My Boys, Desperate Housewives), Joanne Kelly (Vanished, Jeremiah, Slings and Arrows) and Saul Rubinek (Frasier, Blind Justice, A Nero Wolfe Mystery). After saving the life of the President, two Secret Service agents find themselves abruptly transferred to Warehouse 13 -- a massive, top secret storage facility in windswept South Dakota which houses every strange artifact, mysterious relic, fantastical object and supernatural souvenir ever collected by the U.S. government. The Warehouse's caretaker Artie (Rubinek) charges Pete (McClintock) and Myka (Kelly) with chasing down reports of supernatural and paranormal activity in search of new objects to cache at the Warehouse, as well as helping him to control the warehouse itself. Production is slated to begin this February in Toronto for a July 2009 premiere. "Warehouse 13 is an exciting, imaginative, fun, adventure show with an amazing team that will continue to broaden our audience," says Mark Stern. "It is a perfect companion series to Eureka which is a proven success and currently SCI FI's most watched original series." Warehouse 13 is produced by Universal Cable Productions and executive produced by David Simkins (Blade: The Series, The Book of Daniel). It is based on a story by Brent Mote and Jane Espenson; the teleplay was written by Brent Mote and Jane Espenson and David Simkins. It is directed by Jace Alexander (Burn Notice, Rescue Me). |
